A Marvelous Alternative to Table Bread

Product: Brazilian Style Cheese Bread

Description: Twelve frozen orbs of traditional precooked Brazilian cheese bread known as pao de queijo. The gluten-free balls are made always with tapioca flour and some type of cheese, in this case robust Parmesan.

Preparation summary: Heat desired amount of bread balls on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes.

High points: They closely resemble traditional bread rolls, but without the bloat you get from eating too many. Seductive bursts of Parmesan are melted into their centers and interspersed by hot, airy crannies. Enjoy them plain or use them as vessels for dipping into soups and saucy pasta dishes.

Low points: Though crusty on the outside, their springy texture underneath might seem alien to some.

Average retail price: $3.99
