Product: Campbell’s ‘Well Yes!’ Chicken Noodle Soup
Description: This hails from a new line of healthy pottages by Campbell’s, which tapped actress Mindy Kaling to help diminish the notion that the age-old company sells junk soup.
Sold in 16.2-ounce cans, it’s made with chicken bone broth and offers the surprising addition of white beans. Other ingredients include breast meat, carrots, celery and egg noodles. Overall, it contains about 200 less milligrams of sodium compared to Campbell’s regular chicken noodle soup.
Preparation summary: Heat on the stove top in a medium saucepan or microwave on high in a serving bowl with a lid for 2 ½ to 3 minutes.
High points: Compared to the Campbell’s Chicken Noodle soup that gave our busy moms a break from cooking, this version is cleaner-tasting and a little less salty. The small, white beans mixed throughout give it more sustenance and will perhaps suggest you’re eating a canned product that is vaguely healthy.
Low points: The enticing visual of the broth’s sunny, golden hue sets you up for a letdown. Aside from the few differences from its original chicken noodle soup mentioned above, you’re still faced with those waterlogged bits of chicken and mushy noodles, celery and carrots. Lastly, the late Andy Warhol would’ve never felt artistically motivated by the label.
