Eternal narcissist Gordon Ramsey is proving his self-servingness with a $106 burger he plans on selling at his upcoming London restaurant, which is due to open inside of Harrods department store on December 4.
For Brits and others struggling in this pandemic-crushed economy, here’s what you’ll get if willing to toss Ramsey a chunk of your hard-earned money: a Wagyu sirloin patty topped with truffle Pecorino cheese, fresh black truffles, and some sort of dolled-up mayonnaise.
The french fries are less pretentious. They’re no-frills and will cost customers a mere $8 extra.
The venture, named Gordon Ramsay Burger, will mirror his Las Vegas strip restaurant by the same title. There, his flame-cooked burgers cost between $16.99 and $25.99—and the fries are also a la carte.
Ramsay built his brusque reputation as an aspiring chef on several competition-based television shows in Britain and the U.S. They included Hell’s Kitchen; Kitchen Nightmares, and Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back.
Undoubtedly successful, the Scottish chef has opened dozens of restaurants all over the world and has acquired 16 Michelin stars across his business empire. In addition, he carries an impressive history of charity work, helping to raise money for such causes as AIDS/HIV prevention; services to protect women against domestic abuse; air ambulance services, and more.
Yet with a reported net worth of $220 million, and a faltering economy plaguing his native U.K., the debut of a luxury burger even within the posh confines of Harrods feels greedy and shortsighted.
But Ramsay thinks otherwise, and possesses a cult following that thrives on his acerbic insults and maniacal hissy fits.
So take his words for what they’re worth when he publicly stated: “Championing some of the most incredible ingredients from amazing British providers, producers, artisans and growers…I guarantee this will be a burger experience like no other.”

This makes me chuckle. The burger could be from the proverbial sacred cow and I could be a billionaire ten times over and this would NEVER happen. If he feels his burger creations are that special, I wouldn’t deprive him of the pleasure of enjoying them all himself.
