Despite the Sodium, We’re Digging this Lo Mein

Product: P. F. Chang’s Chicken Lo Mein

Description: A noodle bowl featuring chicken breast, mushrooms, carrots, celery, onions and peas, all cloaked in ginger-garlic sauce.

Preparation summary: Microwave on high 4 to 5 ½ minutes.

High points: A generous measure of chopped chicken breast provides 23 grams of protein to a medley of veggies and wheat noodles, which are both tender and pleasantly chewy. The restrained measure of sauce is aromatic with a discerning flavor of ginger—more so than the garlic. In addition, the product is free of preservatives and artificial flavors. If it weren’t for the one caveat listed below, we would buy this again and again.

Low points: While the dish somewhat resembles food from an American-Chinese kitchen—and still no where near as salty as the meals served inside P. F. Chang’s restaurants—the sodium is a whopping 830 milligrams per single serving. That’s a deal breaker.

Average retail price: $5.98

Availability: Most major grocery stores.

  1. It looks really good and I would splurge with the sodium once in a while but I could never choke down peas. That ends it for me right there.
