Product: Paleo Lemongrass Chicken
Specs: Sous vide-cooked white chicken in a sauce of lemongrass, coconut milk, basil and garlic. The refrigerated product hails from a line of hearty, Paleolithic-style entrees by Kevin’s Natural Foods. It provides 23 grams of protein per 5-ounce serving.
Preparation summary: The meal is ready in 5 minutes or less using either option.
Stove top: Add chicken to hot, lightly oiled skillet. Heat for 1 to 2 minutes, add sauce, and simmer for 30 seconds.
Microwave: Add chicken to a microwave-safe bowl and heat on high for 2 minutes. Pour sauce over chicken and heat on high 2 to 3 minutes.
High points: This is one of the most decadent heat-and-eat meals that have ever landed on our restless, little forks. Even better, it’s free of dairy, gluten, soy, antibiotics and preservatives. The chicken (all breast meat) is exceptionally moist and tender. And the sauce is luxuriously rich and complex, much like what you’d find in an upscale Thai restaurant with a master chef at the helm.
Low points: The claim of “6.5 servings” really equates to barely four servings once you and your fellow eaters become seduced by the meal’s flavor spell.
