Product: Vans Organic Blueberry Waffles
Description: Six frozen waffles made with organic whole wheat flour and “real blueberries.” A serving of two contains 4 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, 22 milligrams of calcium, and 99 milligrams of potassium.
Preparation summary: Toast on low for one or two cycles until hot.
High points: None, unless you enjoy walking around with wheat breath.
Low points: Despite slathering them with butter and pure maple syrup, these waffles tasted like dusty, old books smell. The embedded blueberries offered no depth of flavor, as they were pretty much dethroned by the weird blandness of the organic whole wheat flour and grains. They also failed to crisp up. Assume this is what health food tasted like in the 70s and 80s, when we used to scarf down Eggo Waffles with innocent abandon.
Average retail price: $2.99
Availability: Most major grocery stores, Walmart, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Instacart, and Amazon
It can’t be a good sign when your waffle brand is the same as a brand of popular tennis shoes.
How pitiful!! If they are going to go the extra yard with organic, whole grain, etc., why slack off and put out something like this. It’s a waste of what appears to be good ingredients!!
