Wild-Caught Salmon in a Pinch

Product: Gorton’s Grilled Salmon Classic Style

Specs: Two frozen salmon fillets that are wild-caught, skinless, and seasoned. Each weighs about three ounces.

Preparation summary: Bake on a cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 15 to 17 minutes.

High points: The fillets sported adequate flakiness. Their seasoning of onion powder, sea salt and other “spices” is light. A mild grilled flavor was also evident. Overall the fish tasted clean and somewhat close to fresh after giving it a squeeze of lemon.

Low points: Does this give the impression you’re eating salmon in some lodge along Alaska’s Kenai River? No. In addition, we recommend using a sheet of parchment paper when baking the fillets because their fatty ooze (which surfaced on top as well) stuck to our cookie sheet and took some work to remove.

Average retail price: $6.99
